NA Sweden’s 40th Anniversary Convention 2027

More than a convention

NA Sweden turns 40. We celebrate our history – and everything that still lies ahead of us.

On 13 January 1987, the first NA meeting in Sweden was held at Malmgården in Stockholm.

A few people came together with a shared experience and a simple desire: to help one another stay clean.

Forty years later, the fellowship can be found all across Sweden. That is something we want to celebrate.

But NA Sweden’s 40th Anniversary Convention is not only about looking back. Above all, it is about everything that still lies ahead of us.

Maybe you remember your first convention. For many of us it was almost overwhelming. Suddenly there were addicts everywhere. People with a few days clean. A few months. Ten years. Thirty years.

People who had lost relationships, homes, jobs, money and years of their lives. People who, just like us, had thought: It will never work for me.

And yet they were there. Alive. Laughing. Present. Free.

For someone who is new, a moment like that can change something. For the first time, you do not only have to hear that recovery is possible. You can see it with your own eyes.

For you who are new

Maybe you hardly know anyone. Maybe large groups feel uncomfortable. Maybe you wonder if you really belong here.

You do.

Somewhere in Solnahallen there will be an addict who has thought exactly what you are thinking. Someone who remembers their first meeting. Their first day. Their first month. Their first fear of what life without drugs would look like.

You do not have to perform or prove anything. You only have to come.

For you who have been around for a while

Recovery is not only about not using. It is also about fellowship. About continuing to remember where we came from. About meeting people we have missed. About meeting new people.

About laughing until your stomach hurts. About standing on a dance floor in the middle of the night and suddenly realizing how different life has become.

And about being there when the next person walks through the door and still does not dare believe that this works.

Because maybe you are the person someone else needs to see.

40 years of people who went before us

For three days, Solnahallen will be filled with meetings and speakers, music and dancing, laughter and seriousness, old friends and completely new connections, children and families, newcomers and oldtimers.

But above all: addicts helping addicts. Just as it all began.

13–15 AUGUST 2027

SOLNAHALLEN • STOCKHOLM

This is more than an anniversary. It is 40 years of desperation becoming hope. 40 years of people finding their way back. 40 years of friendship, change, mistakes, laughter, tears and new chances.

You do not have to do this alone.

And now we write the next chapter together. See you at Solnahallen.

EXPERIENCES

Members share their experiences from previous conventions

“I still remember walking into the venue and seeing how many people were there. Addicts from all over Sweden, young and old, newcomers and people with many years clean. I had never understood before how big the fellowship really was.”

– 418 days clean

“The most powerful moment for me was the clean time countdown. When people stood up for one day, one week, one year and several decades, I got goosebumps. The whole room applauded just as much for the person with one day as for the person with thirty years.”

– 1,126 days clean

“I thought an NA convention would mostly be a lot of meetings. I was completely wrong. We laughed, danced, ate together, met new people and stayed up half the night talking. I did not want the weekend to end.”

– 287 days clean

“I went to my first convention knowing maybe five people. When I went home, it felt as if I knew a hundred. There was something special about being surrounded by people I had never met before and still feeling at home.”

– 643 days clean

“I remember standing at the back of the room at my first convention during a meeting and just looking out over everyone. Hundreds of addicts together, completely clean, laughing and alive. That image stayed with me.”

– 173 days clean

“It was my first big NA event and I was really nervous beforehand. After an hour I had received more hugs than I had in years. By the end of the weekend, I only wanted to know when the next convention would be.”

– 94 days clean

“For me, it was the mix at my first larger convention that made it special. One moment I was sitting in a meeting, deeply moved, and the next I was dancing with people from all over Sweden. There was both seriousness and an incredible joy.”

– 2,431 days clean

“I had heard people talk about conventions before but never understood why they were so enthusiastic. After my first one, I understood. It is almost impossible to explain the feeling to someone who has never been there.”

– 356 days clean

“At regular meetings I had started recognizing people in my own town. At my first convention I suddenly realized I was part of something much bigger. It made a huge impression on me.”

– 729 days clean

“What I remember most from my first convention is the sound. The laughter, applause, music and conversations everywhere. So much life in one place. It was very far from the picture I had once had of a clean life.”

– 211 days clean

“I met people at my first convention who I am still in contact with today. Some of my most important relationships in the fellowship actually began that weekend.”
